Built in 1957

by the Sprang family, the building was originally The Driftwood, a fine dining restaurant in the heart of Curtis.

Dot Walker would later purchase the restaurant. She was also the creator of Chamberlin Ole Forest Inn's famous B.L.T. Soup.

Caramelize the sugar. Mix egg yolks, condensed milk, evaporated milk, and vanilla extract.

Over the years, the corner of Main & Portage would have multiple owners and businesses including the State Savings Bank of Manistique and Curtis Family Pharmacy.

After selling Chamberlin's Ole Forest Inn in November of 2022, Kelly Chamberlin decided to open a small gift shop.

In the summer of 2024, she rented the front part of the building from Curtis Family Pharmacy and opened Welcome Home Decor & Gifts.

Three years after selling the Inn, Kelly and Bud Chamberlin purchased the building from Curtis Family Pharmacy in November 2025 and started renovations for Main & Portage.
